Ocean Conservation Victories are Lacking
Scientific American annually publishes a list of the most important ocean conservation achievements of the year, and the list for 2018 is lacking, according to writer Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, who is the founder of the social justice group Ocean Collectiv. In her editorial, Johnson says ocean victories are slim, and only three recent developments made her list: the Green New Deal, new leadership from women and young people and various initiatives tackling plastic pollution.
