Marine Renewables Canada will hold its annual East Coast Summer Event August 15 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The day will comprise two events: an afternoon industry update/session followed by an evening networking event. The industry update session will feature updates on tidal energy projects, plus future outlook and insight on new market opportunities for offshore wind, tidal, wave, river current and other clean marine energy.

Wave Energy Converter and Smart Subsea Hub Installed

Finnish wave energy developer Wello Oy launched the next iteration of their Penguin wave energy converter (WEC) into the water in Tallinn, Estonia as part of the CEFOW (Clean Energy From Ocean Waves) project. The Penguin WEC2 will be towed to the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland, where it will be deployed alongside Wello’s original Penguin WEC.

A European Consortium is Trying to Build Floating Ocean Spaces

A consortium of seventeen European partners is trying to create floating workspaces at sea by developing a standardized, cost-efficient, modular island with low ecological impact.
